How to Calculate THE COST OF Longarm Quilting

At Sweet Gum Quilting the price of longarm quilting depends on the size of your quilt top, measured in total square feet (TSF) and the quilting design chosen. There are additional charges for quilt preparation, batting, backing fabric & binding (if required).

The final cost is calculated during the Quilting Design Process.

Step 1 - Measure Your Quilt Top

Measure the length and width of your quilt top

Multiply length x width & divide by 144 = TSF

STEP 2 - ChoosE a quilting design

Sweet Gum Quilting has an extensive library of computerised digital quilting designs. You can choose an all-over light and soft meander or a more intricate edge to edge design that covers the whole quilt regardless of blocks, seams or piecing.

A selection of edge to edge quilting designs are listed under themes in the Quilting Design section.

ESTIMATE QUILTING COSTS

Below is a quick estimate of quilting cost. All quilts tops are quoted during the Quilting Design Process.

EDGE TO EDGE quilting

Edge to Edge quilting is when a single pattern is repeated all over your quilt regardless of piecing or applique. Prices are calculated based on the size of your quilt top (minimum charge $80.00).

Edge to edge design prices start from $5.00 x TSF

Thread is included in the cost of edge to edge quilting.

CUSTOMISED & custom QUILTING

Most edge to edge designs can be customised to include text such as a name or special message.

Custom Quilting is when different quilting designs are used in sections of the quilt. For example, each quilt block is individually quilted, applique outlined, or the border has a separate quilting design. Prices for custom quilting vary and are quoted during the design process.
